| Peter's
set was full of life and energy and an amazing level of talent. Peter
has written fabulous music with fantastic lyrics and we particularly enjoyed
'Back to the fields'. The song shows the importance of knowing of that
place you call home and it is a wonderful reminder of the beautiful place
we are so lucky to live in. 'Can't help smiling' also instantly connects
with anyone who has ever been reunited with a loved one after a period
of separation. Peter played a number of different songs, including some
covers that the audience were encouraged to participate in, making the
concert truly come alive for everyone. The whole evening was extremely
enjoyable and we are so lucky to have such amazing young talent in East
Anglia.
Jane Kerr - Album Launch Review 2009. Following a short interval the stage was ready for Peter to introduce his band and perform a thoroughly professional set showcasing his debut album 'Day in the sun'. Playing Acoustic and Electric guitars Peter was in fine voice as he stormed through his set which also included covers of The Kinks 'Sunny Afternoon' and an original version of 'With a little help from my friends'. Park House News - Album Launch Review 2009 'Checking out Yerge Entertainments Acoustic Sessions at the Ivy House, Holborn, I stumbled across the very talented, Norfolk based singer/songwriter, Peter Appleyard. Following a fairly quiet start to the session Peter kicked the evening into life with a lively collection of acoustic originals. Starting with heart felt opener 'Day in the sun, which ended with an otherworldly effects finale, Peter grabbed the audiences attention once more with the bouncy summery pop of 'Cant help smiling'. Peter then stepped back to older material with the funky Master of illusion, which incorporated an effective wah-wah solo, and dynamic Latin rhythms on the guitar. With requests from the audience, intimate ballad Sleepless proved a real highlight for many as Peter layered-up chiming guitar picking alongside a touching vocal performance. Dynamic high point of set was the dark epic 'This aint love, which featured yet more guitar looping and some scorching vocals. This song not only grabbed the audiences attention but a few bystanders across the road too! Peter ended the evening with a surprise electro infused 'Popstar, an X factor protest song. Combining witty, cutting lyrics with a funky off-beat groove this song really allowed Peter to experiment with different guitar and vocal effects and he enlisted help from the audience for a successfully rousing finale. A great set all round from this talented new artist and definitely an act to watch out for in 2009' **** Nick
